The 1966 Ford Thunderbird was manufactured in the last year of the fourth generation of this vehicle produced between 1964 and 1966.  Even though it was the last year of this generation, a number of styling changes were made including a new "egg-crate" grill with a new Thunderbird emblem at its center and a new rear fascia with the brake lights packaged as one unit.  Engine choices in 1966 included: 1) 390 cu. in. V-8 with two-barrel carburetor (standard); 2) 390 cu. in. V-8 with four barrel carburetor (optional) and 3) 428 cu. in. V-8 with four barrel carburetor (optional).  This 1966 Ford Thunderbird was produced as part of AMT/Ertl's "Customizing Series" designed to introduce the modeler to the techniques of customizing.  In addition to the many molded custom parts, this series of kits included detailed "how to" instructions, putty, tools and sand paper to help the builder create his own customized car.  This older, out-of-production 1966 Thunderbird scaled model includes parts to build either a stock or customized model.  Other features of this kit include: 1) Authentic custom decals; 2) Chrome parts; 3) Clear plastic windows and headlight lenses; 4) Detailed V-8 engine; 5) Detailed interior; 6) Detailed trophies and display accessories; 7) Hood can be displayed in the closed or open position; 8) Molded in white plastic; 9) Optional stock whitewall tires and custom blackwall tires; 10) Red transparent plastic for taillight lenses and 11) Illustrated assembly instructions.   The box is in very good condition.  Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
