The rear engine Chevrolet Corvair was produced by the General Motors Corporation from 1960 to 1969. The Corvair was marketed first as an economy sedan and later, with the rollout of the Monza, as a sports car. The Corvair came in a variety of body styles including: 1) 2-door convertible; 2) 2-door coupe; 3) 2-door hardtop; 4) 2-door pick-up truck; 5) 6-door van; 6) 8 door van; 7) 4-door sedan; 8) 4-door hardtop and 9) 4-door station wagon. The Corvair was powered by a number of different "flat" six cylinder engines. While the Corvair's reputation was forever tarnished by the book "Unsafe at Any Speed" written by consumer advocate Ralph Nader, the reality is that by the time Chevrolet pulled the plug on Corvair production in 1969, the vehicle was just as safe as any other car manufacturer's vehicle in the market segment the Corvair competed in. This 1969 Corvair scaled model includes the following features: 1) Chrome parts; 2) Clear plastic window glass areas; 3) Detailed rear-mounted "flat" six cylinder engine; 4) Detailed interior; 5) Engine compartment hood can be displayed in the closed or open position; 6) Vinyl blackwall tires and 7) Illustrated assembly instructions. The box is in new condition. Never started and factory sealed.
