The book,  A-10 Warthog In Action (# 49) represents an authoritative and concise pictorial study of the twin-engine, single seat ground attack aircraft developed in the early 1970s by Fairchild-Republic for the United States Air Force.  The OA-10 A "Warthog" is a big yet very maneuverable assault aircraft that was developed to fly "specialized" anti-tank warfare missions.  The OA-10, also known as the Thunderbolt II, has been in service with the United States Air Force since its introduction in the mid 1970s and has been, along with the Bell AH-1 Cobra gun-ship helicopters, the backbone of ground support units during this timeframe.  The OA-10 is known for its exceptionally rugged fuselage and its powerful 30 mm cannon that has the power to destroy enemy tanks.  In addition to performing the role of a ground attack aircraft, the OA-10 has also been used for surveillance and scout tasks for other United States Air Force units.  The major sections of "A-10 Warthog In Action (# 49)" are as follows: 1) Introduction; 2) Design Philosophy - Why it looks that way; 3) Design Philosophy - Survivability; 4) N/AW A-10 A; and 5) Joint Attack Weapons System.  In addition to an informative narrative & photograph captions, "A-10 Warthog In Action (# 49)" includes the following features: 1) Approximately 100 black and white photographs; 2) About 32 black and white illustrations; 3) 6 color side aircraft profile illustrations; 4) 1 color illustration of an A-10 A of the 118th TFS, Connecticut Air National Guard in European I camouflage; 5) 1 multiple-view black and white A-10 Warthog illustration with specifications; 6) 1 black and white side view N/AW A-10 A illustration with specifications and 7) 3 color cover paintings.  This book is 50 pages and is in good condition.  The author is Lou Drendel.  Edition published in 1981.
