The A-10 "Warthog", officially named the Thunderbolt II looks like a throwback to the early post World War II jet designs.  The A-10 Thunderbolt II's unqiue shape represents a "form follows function" design approach.  The unusual placement of the aircraft's two jet engines, angular lines and distinctly chunky shape are all factors that caused pilots to nickname it "Warthog".  While the A-10 Thunderbolt II is not The A-10 "Warthog", officially named the Thundbolt II looks like a thowback to the early post World War II jet designs.  The A-10 Thunderbolt II's unqiue shape represents a "form follows function" design approach.  The unusual placement of the aircraft's two jet engines, angular lines and distinctly chunky shape are all factors that caused pilots to nickname it Warthog.  While the A-10 Thunderbolt II is not aesthetically pleasing, it has proven to be highly effective in its primary role of "tank buster".  The A-10 Thunderbolt II's design as a "flying tank" is so robust, in fact, that it frequently returns from missions with severe battle damage, including the loss of half the tail, or chunks of the wing missing.  This older 99 piece A-10 Warthog scaled model includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for an A-10 Warthog flown by the United States Air Force complete with shark-mouth graphics; 2) Boarding ladder; 3) Can be assembled with one engine cowling open to reveal a detailed turbo-fan engine; 4) Clear plastic canopy; 5) Detailed cockpit; 6) Externally mounted array of bombs; 7) Molded in dark green colored plastic; 8) Recessed panel lines and 9) Illustrated assembly instruction.  The box is in like-new condition.  Never started and factory sealed.
