.The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk was an American jet fighter / bomber originally designed to operate from U.S. Navy aircraft carriers.  The jet was designed and produced by Douglas Aircraft Corporation (later McDonnell Douglas) and was initially given the designation A-4D under the Navy's pre-1962 designation system.  The Skyhawk has played key roles over the last fifty years in the Vietnam, the Falklands and Yom Kippur wars.  Approximately 2,960 aircraft have been produced since its introduction with the U.S. Navy in 1956.  While the U.S. military retired all examples during the 1998 - 2003 timeframe, several foreign air arms around the world still fly the A-4 to this day.  The A-4 M/N variant which is the subject of this kit was a dedicated U.S. Marine Corp version with improved avionics, more powerful J52 P-408a engine, enarged cockpit, IFF system and later a Hughes AN/ASB-19 angle rate bombing system .  This older, out-of-production "Skyhawk" kit is quality engineered in two colors.  Authentic decals are included for the following two aircraft: 1) A-4M Skyhawk of VMA-324, MCAS Beaufort, McChord A.F.B., South Carolina and 2) A-4N Skyhawk, Israeli Air Force.  Also included are illustrated assembly instructions and a detail color plan.  The box is in excellent condition with original tape on the ends of the package.  Never started and factory sealed.
