The book, Aeronautics: Our Navy In The Far East, represents an article excerpted from the October, 1953 National Geographic Magazine issue (Volume 104 Pages 537 - 577).   The author quickly makes the point that the importance of Asia lies in the fact that more than half of the world lived there as of this article's publication date.  Add to this the various military commitments of numerous mutual assistance pacts which involve millions of people on the periphery of Asia and the reader can understand why United States Navy Ships are deployed from the Sea of Japan to the South China Sea.  While this is a relatively short article, it does a credible job of giving the reader a sense of the roles and responabilities facing the U.S. Naval Forces Far East command including the operations of the Seventh Fleet.  The original article reviewed the United States Navy's activities in the Far East in both a narrative and pictorial format.  Included are approximately 31 rare color photographs and 10 vintage black and white photographs.  This excerpted publication of the original National Geographic Magazine article was produced with a special "hard-back" cover which was often acquired by schools for their libraries.  This example was purchased through a school book sale in Michigan, U.S.A. and has the original school rubber stamp on the cover.  This book is 40 pages and is in excellent condition.  The author is Admiral Arthur W. Radford with J. Baylor Roberts (illustrations).  Edition published in October, 1953.
