 The book, Aeronca: The Best Of Paul Matt - A Collection From The Historical Aviation Albums (Volume 1) represents a pictorial study of the various light single engine aircraft produced in the United States by the Aeronautical Corporation of America between the late 1920s and 1951 when all aircraft manufacturing ceased.  A contraction of the Aeronautical Corporation of America was used to form the marketing name of Aeronca, which is familiar to any classic aviation enthusiast.  During the 1929 to 1951 Aeronca produced over 17,000 light aircraft spread across 55 different models.  Some of the more memorable series aircraft produced during this timeframe were the C-1, C-2, C-3, K, L, Champ and Chief.  Before World War II and immediately after, Aeronca manufactured high-wing, single engine aircraft used by both recreational flyers and flight training centers.  During World War II Aeronca produced the L-3 liaison and observation aircraft for use by the Allied air forces.  Post-war, Aeronca went on to produce the L-16, which was essential a military version of the Champ.  The L-16 was one of the light aircraft used for liaison and observation duties during the Korean War.  The major sections of "Aeronca: The Best Of Paul Matt - A Collection From The Historical Aviation Albums (Volume 1)" are as follows: 1) Acknowledgements; 2) Foreword; 3) Chapter 1 - Aeronca, Its Formation and First Airplanes; 4) Chapter 2 - The Morehouse Engine; 5) Chapter 3 - Aeronca Models K and L; 6) Chapter 4 - The Aeronca Champion; 7) Chapter 5 - We Fly The Super Chief and 8) Photo Album.  In addition to an informative narrative, this book includes the following features: 1) Approximately 155 black and white vintage photographs; 2) 2 black and white illustrations; 3) 1 multi-view black and white drawing of the Aeronca C-2 - 1929; 4) 1 multi-view black and white scaled drawing of the Aeronca C-3 Collegian "Razorback" - 1934; 5) 1 multi-view black and white scaled drawing of the Aeronca C-3 Master "500" series "Razorback" 1935-36; 6) 1 multi-view black and white scaled drawing of the Morehouse 29.1 horsepower aircraft engine - 1925; 7) 1 multi-view black and white scaled drawing of the Aeronca Model K - 1937; 8) 1 multi-view black and white scaled drawing of the Aeronca LB (LA-LC) 1935-1937 and 9) 1 multi-view black and white scaled drawing of the Aeronca 7AC "Champion" 1946-1948.  The materials compiled in this book were gathered from the vast aeronautical collection of the late Paul Matt and have been published as part of the "Best Of Paul Matt Collection.  This book is 88 pages and is in excellent condition.  Edited by Alan Abel with Drina Welch Abel (coordination) and Jane A. Walters (cover illustration & graphic design).  Edition published in 1988.
