The book, Aircraft Profile: Fairey Barracuda Mks. I - V (# 240), tells the interesting story of the development and use of the Fairey Baracuda by the British Fleet Air Arm during World War II.  The Fairey Barracuda was a single engine, high wing monoplane dive and torpedo bomber designed to replace the Fairey Albacore and Swordfish bi-plane torpedo bombers.  Just over 2,600 Barracudas of all variants were produced during World War II.  The Fairey Baracuda had the following operational characteristics; 1) Top speed of just over 200 m.p.h.; 2) Combat range of about just over 725 miles and 3) Service ceiling of almost 22,000 feet.  This book is part of a series of profile publications centered on chronicling the development and use of ground-breaking or interesting aircraft during the 20th century.  The major sections of this book are as follows: 1) Background To Barracuda; 2) Specification S. 24/37; 3) Development; 4) The Prototype; 5) Production - Barracuda Mks. I & II; 6) Radio, Radar & Barracuda III; 7) Weapons And Ordnance; 8) Front-Line Service; 9) To Sea; 10) Expansion; 11) Norway; 12) Shore-Based Operations; 13) Far East; 14) Barracuda Mks. IV & V and 15) Specifications Table.  In addition to an informative narrative, this book includes the following features: 1) 44 vintage black and white photographs; 2) 6 color side aircraft profiles and 3) 2 color three-way aircraft profiles.  This book is sure to appeal to anyone interested in the history behind the Fairey Barracuda and modellers alike. This book is 24 pages and is in very good condition.  The author is David Brown.  Edition published in 1972.
