The book, American Locomotives In Historic Colors (1858 to 1949), includes 126 builders portraits of American locomotives which offer a cavalcade of images that chronicle the rise of steam locomotive power in America.  Builder portraits are especially sought after by railway historians because they are the exacting official photographs of new models taken before repairs, alterations and aging altered their original appearance.  These extrordinary photographs come mainly from the Roger's Collection which was acquired by Hayward Cirker who is the publisher of Dover books.  The noted railroad historian, Ron Ziel, added his expertise by providing the selection of the 126 photographs and their captioning.  Captions are extensive and very informing.  This book is highly recommended for the railroad historian and are a delight for the train modeller alike.  This book is 129 pages and is in very good condition with some creasing on the front and back covers.  The editor is Ron Ziel.  Edition publishe in 1993.
