The BAC Lightning was a British supersonic fighter aircraft developed and deployed during the Cold War. It is best remembered for its great speed and natural metal exterior and was both British designed and manufactured. The Lightning was used throughout its service life by both the Royal Air Force (R.A.F.) and the Royal Saudi Air Force. The Lightning was also one of the fastest planes ever used in formation aerobatics. Most of the remaining Lightnings are now housed in museums but two examples still fly in South Africa. The BAC Lightning F6 / F.2A. model included in this older, mid 1970s kit is quality engineered and molded in three colors and comes with complete, illustrated instructions. Authentic decals are provided for the following two aircraft: 1) Lightning F.6. R.A.F. No. 74 Squadron, Singapore, August 1970 and Lightning F.2A. R.A.F. No. 92 Squadron, Gutersloh, West Germany, June 1974. The model box is in excellent condition but does have two pieces of tape visible on the left hand edge of the box front. Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
