The Bell UH-1 Iroquois, often referred too as a “Huey”, is a military helicopter powered by a single, turbo-shaft engine with a two-blade primary rotor along with a tail rotor.  The UH-1 helicopter was developed by Bell Helicopter to meet a United States Army specification for a medical evacuation and general utility helicopter in the early 1950s.  The UH-1 first flew in 1956, was ordered into production in 1960 and was the first turbine-powered helicopter deployed in the early 1960s.  The UH-1 saw extensive service during the Vietnam War performing the roles of general transportation, gunship, medical evacuation and troop carrier.  During its lengthy production run over 16,000 units across all variants were built.  In addition to being used by the United States Army, Air Force and Navy, the UH-1 was also flown by the military forces of Argentina, Australia, El Salvador, Germany, Israel, Japan and Lebanon, as well as by the forces of the former Rhodesia and South Vietnam.  The UH-1 carried a crew of up to 4 people and had the following operational characteristics: 1) Top speed of 135 mph; 2) Service ceiling of just over 19,000 feet and 3) Range of just over 300 miles.  The UH-1 carried a varied assortment of armament including either two 7.62 / .303 caliber machine guns, rocket pods or multiple gravity bombs.  This older Bell UH-1B Iroquois scaled model includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for a Bell UH-1 B Iroquois as operated by the United States Army or alternatively the Japanese Self Defense Force; 2) Clear plastic cockpit and fuselage “glass” areas; 3) Detailed cockpit; 4) Molded in olive drab colored plastic; 5) Rivet detail; 6) Six bombs; 7) Spinning primary and tail rotors; 8) Two seated crew figures and 9) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in very good condition.  Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
