The Messerschmitt Bf 110 was a twin-engine heavy fighter developed in the mid 1930s for a variety of different roles including fighter, fighter-bomber and as a radar equipped night fighter.  The Bf 110 enjoyed early success in World War II during the Polish and Norwegian campaigns, as well as, the Battle of France.  The Luftwaffe attempted to use the Bf 110 as a day fighter during the Battle of Britain but eventually withdrew them after suffering high losses to the Royal Air Force Hawker Hurricanes and Supermarine Spitfires.  Later in World War II, the Bf 110 enjoyed a successful period during the Balkans Campaign, North African Campaign and on the Eastern Front.  The Bf 110, when equipped with search radar also became the German Luftwaffe’s most numerous and successful night fighter.  The Bf 110 was first introduced in 1937 and subsequently was flown by the Hungarian Air Force, Italian Air Force, Luftwaffe and the Romanian Air Force.  The Bf 110 had the following operational characteristics: 1) Top speed of just under 350 mpg; 2) Standard range of about 560 miles and 3) Service ceiling of 36,000 feet.  The Bf 110 was armed with two 20 mm cannons, four 7.92 mm machine guns and one 7.92 mm machine gun installed in the rear cockpit.  The Bf 110 D-3, which is the subject of this kit, represented an extra-long range variant capable of carrying life rafts and under-wing fuel drop tanks.  This highly detailed 280 piece Bf 110 D-3 scaled model includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for a Bf-110 D-3 as operated by the German Luftwaffe during World War II; 2) Detailed cockpit; 3) Detailed engines; 4) Detailed landing gear; 5) Molded in gray colored plastic; 6) Metal parts; 7) Moveable ailerons; 8) Optional closed or open clear plastic canopies; 9) Photo-etched parts; 10) Recessed panel lines; 11) Under-wing mounted life rafts; 12) Under-wing mounted bombs; 13) Painting guide and 14) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in excellent condition.  Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
