The movie, Black Hawk Down, is the story of the ill-fated Army Ranger and Delta Force mission to Mogadishu, Somalia on October 3, 1993 to abduct two lieutenants of a vicious local warlord. Within a short time of entering the city, the American force finds themselves surrounded by irate militia members. Realizing that they need to be rescued, several Black Hawk Helicopters are sent to pick them up but are quickly shot down. Lacking sufficient fire support and running low on ammunition, the remaining American force must fight its way to freedom against tremendous odds. The violence of this film is brutal and nearly constant until the surviving soldiers eventually escape. This movie won two Academy Awards one each for Best Film Editing and Best Sound. Starring Richard Tyson, Josh Hartnett and Jason Isaacs among others. Full screen in color. Released in 2001. Runtime 144 minutes.
