The A-4 Skyhawk was a single place, carrier qualified ground attack jet aircraft produced by the Douglas Aircraft Company for the United States Marine Corps and Navy.  It made its first flight in 1954 and was introduced into service in 1956.  By the time production ceased almost 3,000 units of all variants had been manufactured.  The United States Marine Corps and Navy retired the Skyhawk in 1998 and 2003 respectively.  The operational characteristics of the A-4 Skyhawk are as follows: 1) Top speed of just under 700 mph.; 2) Range of 2,000 miles and 3) Service ceiling just over 42,000 feet.  The Skyhawk carried two 20 mm cannons and had hard-points under the fuselage and wings to carry almost 10,000 pounds of ordnance including bombs, missiles and rockets.  The United States Navy flight demonstration team flew the A-4D Skyhawk from 1973 through 1986.  This old, out-of-production A4D Skyhawk scaled model was part of Lindberg's Blue Angels Past and Present series of aircraft flown by the United States Aerobatic Team.  Other aircraft in this series included the F6F Hellcat, F7U Cutlass and F11F Tiger.  This model includes the following features: 1) Authentic decals for an A4D Skyhawk flown by the United States Navy Aerobatic Team from 1973 through 1986; 2) Clear plastic cockpit canopy; 3) Detailed cockpit; 4) Detailed landing gear; 5) Recessed panel lines; 6) Painting guide and 7) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in like-new condition.  Never started and factory sealed.
