The F2A Buffalo was manufactured by the Brewster Aeronautical Corporation and flown by the United States Navy, as well as, the Finnish, Royal and Royal Australian Air Forces early in World War II.  Unlike the United States Navy, Royal Air Force and the Royal Australian Air Force, which largely withdrew their remaining Buffalos from frontline service in 1942 after having suffered a tremendously high level of combat attrition, the Finnish Air Force continued to fly them with a fair level of success against Soviet aircraft through 1944.  Brewster Buffalos were produced between 1939 and 1941 and were flown until finally retired in 1948.  Just over 500 Brewster Buffalos of all variants were manufactured.  The operational characteristics of the Brewster Buffalo are as follows: 1) Top speed of just over 300 mph; 2) Combat range from 1,000 to 1,680 depending on the variant and 3) Service ceiling between 30,000 and 33,000 feet depending on the variant.  Typical armament included one .30 and one .50 caliber machine guns located in the fuselage and two .50 caliber machine guns located in the wings.   This older Brewster Buffalo scaled model is from quality Airfix molds and is from MPC’s “Air Combat Collection”.  It includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for an Brewster Buffalo as flown by the United States Navy early in World War II; 2) Basic cockpit; 3) Clear one piece plastic canopy; 4) Detailed landing gear; 5) Ground crewmen figures; 6) Pilot figure 7) Recessed panel lines; 8) Painting guide and 9) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in Like-New condition.  Never started and factory sealed.
