The British Aerospace FRS-1 Sea Harrier is a single seat, subsonic British VTOL/STOVL jet strike fighter that was deployed in the Royal Navy beginning in August 1978.  Also nicknamed the “Shar”, the innovative FRS-1 Sea Harrier was developed and deployed with the primary mission of providing air defense for British fleet operations.  The FRS-1 Sea Harrier was operated primarily from Royal Navy aircraft carriers and participated in the Falklands War, both Gulf Wars and the Balkan conflicts.  The FRS-1 Sea Harrier was eventually replaced in the mid 1990s by an improved version designated the FA-2 Sea Harrier.  The FA-2 had a number of improvements over the FRS-1 including air-to-air performance and weapons capabilities, as well as, a more powerful jet engine.  The operational performance of the FRS-1 Sea Harrier are as follows: 1) Top speed of approximately 740 mph; 2) Combat Range of just over 600 miles and 3) Service ceiling of 51,000 feet.  The FRS-1 Sea Harrier was armed with two 30 mm cannon and four under-wing, as well as, one fuselage pylon stations that allowed it to carry a wide variety of ordnance including missiles (air-to-air, air-to-ground & anti-ship) and bombs.  The FRS-1 Sea Harrier could also carry externally mounted fuel drop tanks for extended range missions and a reconnaissance pod for intelligence gathering missions.  This British Aerospace FRS-1 Sea Harrier scaled model includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for a FRS-1 Sea Harrier as operated by the British Royal Navy; 2) Clear one piece plastic canopy; 3) Molded in navy blue colored plastic; 4) Recessed panel lines; 5) Under-wing mounted missiles and bombs and 6) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in excellent condition.  Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
