The Bugatti Grand Prix Race Car (Type 59) of the 1930s represented final variant of a long line of fine racing automobiles. It used a larger 3.3 Litre (250 h.p.) engine set into a modified Type 54 chassis. The placement of the engine lowered the center of gravity and when combined with a lighter chassis allowed this automobile to achieve relatively high speeds for the day. It has been reported that only a handful of Type 59s were ever produced. A Bugatti Type 59 placed no lower than sixth place in the 1934 Belgium, Algiers, Monaco, Spainsih and Swiss Grand Prix races. In 1935, a Bugatti Type 59 placed in first or second place in the Picardy, Mannin Moar, Tunis, Lorraine and Ponington Grand Prix races. This older Bugatti Grand Prix Race Car (Type 59) car kit is one of the Pyro Plastics "Table Top Series" of models manufactured during the late 1960s. It represents a European race car and is molded in an authentic automobile color. This kit also includes clear molded parts, complete interior detailing and is a perfect scale to convert to Road Racing. The model box is in excellent condition with two small pieces of old tap on the sides of the box. Never started and 100% complete with all parts and instructions inventoried.
