The movie, Cast a Giant Shadow, is the story of Israel's difficult struggle for Statehood immediately following World War II. The central character in this movie is an American military officer named Colonel David Marcus who defied orders and led a faction of the Israeli Army in defense of its newly formed borders. In 1946, Colonel Marcus was not satisfied with simple domestic life in the first year following World War II. He decides to get back into a war by volunteering to join the fight for the liberation of Israel. Outgunned and outmanned, Israel's fighting forces must fight a life or death struggle to establish Israel. Colonel Marcus' initial thirst for adventure turns into a patriotic and passionate commitment to Zionism and in turn the establishment of the country of Israel. Most of this film shots were done in Israel with interior scenes filmed in Rome. Starring Kirk Douglas, Senta Berger and Angie Dickinson among others. Full Screen in color. Released in 1966, Runtime 142 minutes.
