The book, Chevy Classics 1955, 1956, 1957 examines the history and legend of what have become to classic car enthusiasts, three of the most popular years in Chevrolet's history.  From a nostalgic perspective, no decade is looked back upon with more fondness than the 1950s.  Coming out of World War II, the United States was the economic and technological powerhouse in the world.  The American consumer was flush with cash and wanted to "invest" some of this money in new cars.  The problem was that until the 1955 model year, all General Motors had to offer were warmed over pre-war models.  That was the story until the 1955 model year when the Chevrolet Division of General Motors came-up with an all new, fresh design that also included a new overhead valve V-8 engine.  Overnight this took Chevrolet out of its somewhat stodgy past into the booming 1950s.  While Chevrolet only made minor refinements to the 1956 Chevrolet followed by more substantive changes for the 1957 model.  From a host of options all three years and a variety of engines to choose from the 1955 - 1957 Chevys could fill any customer role from basic transport to drag strip racing machine.  This book includes the following major sections: 1) Acknowledgements; 2) The Classic Tri-Chevys - 1955, 1956, 1957; 3) The Motoramic Chevrolet; 4) Turning Up the Heat; 5) Smooth as Quicksilver and 6) Index.  In addition to an informative narrative, the book Chevy Classics 1955, 1956, 1957 includes the following features: 1) Approximately 35 black and white vintage photographs; 2) About 102 color photographs; 3) 10 black and white illustrations and 4) Appoximately 22 color illustrations including many marketing posters.  This book is 160 pages and is in excellent conditon.  The author is Anthony Young with Mike Mueller (photography).  Edition published in 1999.
