The book, Classic American Farm Tractors (Osprey Color Series) represents a pictorial study of early American farm tractors from many of the leading American farm tractor and implement manufacturers of the era.  As the author points out, around the world there is a strong enthusiasm for old machinery of all kinds.  In the case of old tractors, three factors seem to be driving this rekindled interest: 1) A yearning to look back and study the simple things; 2) The ability to see restored farm tractors in action and 3) The sheer variety of tractors in all shapes, sizes & colors.  In "Classic American Farm Tractors (Osprey Color Series)" the author has used "classic" as a euphemism for "old".  Pictured here are the true pioneers including the great models from the great manufacturers that broke new technological ground at a time when some farmers still use plow horses to till their ground.  The major sections of "Classic American Farm Tractors (Osprey Color Series) are as follows: 1) Introduction; 2) Chapter-1 Allis-Chalmers and Oil Pull Rumely; 3) Chapter-2 Case plus Emerson-Brantingham, Rock Island and Wallis; 4) Chapter-3 John Deere and Waterloo Boy; 5) Chapter-4 Fordson versus Samson (aka General Motors); 6) Chapter-5 International Harvester including Farmall, McCormick-Deering, Mogul and Titan; 7) Chapter-6 Massey-Harris + Sawyer-Massey = tenuous connection; 8) Chapter-7 White Motor Corporation means Cletrac, Cockshutt, Hart-Parr, Minneapolis-Moline, Oliver and Twin City and 9) Chapter-8 And some of the rest: Allwork, Co-op, Eagle and Happy Farmer.  In addition to an informative narrative, "Classic American Farm Tractors (Osprey Color Series)" includes 120 high-quality color photographs.  Most of these outstanding photographs were taken at the Ontario Agricultural Museum at Milton in Canada and at the Hunday Museum, also known as, The National Tractor and Farm Museum at West Side, Newton, Stockfield-on-Tyne in Northern England.  This book is 120 pages and is in excellent condition.  The author is Nick Baldwin with Andrew Morland (photography).  Edition published in 1989.
