The movie, Crimson Tide, is a film that centers on the nuclear submarine, U.S.S. Alabama which receives an unconfirmed order to launch its nuclear missiles against a foreign country but in so doing may start World War III.  The tension quickly rises as the submarine's respected commander and his executive officer clash over the validity of their unconfirmed orders.  While the commander wants to launch the missles, the executive officer feels that the order to launch their missles must be confirmed before unleashing their deadly, nuclear payloads.  As the epic struggle rages, the executive officer feels he has no choice but to relieve the commander of his duties and in so doing avert a possible World War III.  Whether or not his actions represent treason or are alternatively on solid legal footing will have to wait.  Starring Denzel Washington, Gene Hackman and George Dzundza.  Full screen in color.  Released in 1995.  Runtime 116 minutes.
