The book, Curtiss Army Hawks In Action (# 128) represents a pictorial study of development and introduction of the single seat, single-engine P-1 and later P-6 Hawk biplane American fighters.  The interim P-1 Hawk fighters quickly evolved into the definitive P-6 Hawks, which were flown by the United States Army Air Corp. from the late 1920s through the late 1930s just prior to the outbreak of World War II.  When production finally ended in the 1930s, approximately 70 P-6 Hawks including modified P-1s had been manufactured.  The P-6 Hawk model produced in the greatest numbers was the E variant where 46 were manufactured and assigned to the United States Army Air Corps 17th and 33rd squadrons.  The Curtiss P-6 E Hawk had the following operational characteristics: 1) Top speed of 198 mph; 2) Range 244 miles and 3) Service ceiling 24,700 feet.  The P-6 E Hawk carried armament of two .30" caliber machine guns.  The major sections of "Curtiss Army Hawks In Action" are as follows: 1) Introduction; 2) P-1 Hawk; 3) XP-6; 4) P-6 E; 5) Export Hawks and 6) Curtiss Falcon.  In addition to an informative narrative, "Curtiss Army Hawks In Action (# 128)" includes the following features: 1) Approximately 114 black and white illustrations; 2) About 36 black and white illustrations; 3) 9 color illustrations; 4) 10 color side aircraft profile illustrations; 5) 1 three-view black and white Curtiss P-1 C Hawk illustration with specifications; 6) 1 three-view black and white Curtiss P-6 E Hawk illustration with specifications; 7) 1 three-view black and white Curtiss O-1 B (A-3) Falcon illustration with specifications and 8) 3 color cover paintings.  This book is 50 pages and is in excellent condition.  The author is Larry Davis with Don Greer & Tom Tullis (colorists) and Joe Sewell (illustrations).  Edition published in 1992.
