The Curtiss SB2C Helldiver was an American, carrier based dive-bomber aircraft utilized by the U.S. Navy as a replacement for the venerable Douglas SBD Dauntless towards the middle of World War II. Crew nicknames for the aircraft included Big-Tailed Beast, Beast, Two-Cee and Son-Of-A-Bitch 2nd Class. This older, out-of-production 63 piece SB2C-4 "Helldiver" scaled model is molded in gray colored plastic and includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for two different aircraft; a) SB2C-4 white 114 of VB-3, U.S.S. Yorktown, late 1944 and b) SB2C-4 white 80 of VB-85, U.S.S. Shangri-La, 3 June 1944; 2) Basic cockpit; 3) Detailed landing gear; 4) Recessed panel lines; 5) Resin detail parts; 6) Vacuform canopy; 7) Painting guide in color and 8) Illustrated assembly instructions. The box is in like-new condition. Never started and factory sealed.
