The Yokosuka D4Y Suisei or Comet was a World War II era dive bomber of the Imperial Japanese Navy and was known to the Allies as "Judy". The "Judy" was a relatively fast dive bomber and only the delays in its development minimized its impact on the outcome of the war. Its predecessor, the more robust but slower Aichi D3A remained in service to the end of the war due to the relatively small numbers of D4Y3's available for service. Despite its limited use, the Judy's speed and range allowed it to be effectively used as a reconnaissance aircraft, as well as, in Kamikaze missions. Approximately 2,000 "Judy" dive bombers were produced between 1942 and 1945 when it was effectively retired at the conclusion of the war. This 1980s kit represents a Japanese Navy D4Y3 Type 33 "Judy" dive bombing plane and is overall an accurate scale repesentation of this aircraft. The box is in very good condition. Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
