Arguably the most famous United States Naval aircraft to serve during World War II, the Dauntless was already obsolete when the United States entered the war but soldiered on until final victory.  The SBD Dauntless was powered by a 1,000 horsepower Wright Cyclone radial engine, which gave it a top speed of 246 m.p.h. and a combat range, with a full load, of armament of 456 miles.  The SBD Dauntless carried two .303 caliber machine guns in the nose and either one or two .303 machine guns in the rear cockpit.  The Douglas Dauntless could carry a 500 or 1,000 pound bomb under the fuselage and one 100-pound bomb under each wing.  This older Douglas Dauntless scaled model includes the following features: 1) Alternate cowlings for either a SBD-3 or SBD-5 2) Authentic markings for a Douglas Dauntless operated by the United States Navy during World War II; 3) Clear multi-piece canopy; 3) Machine gun; 4) Molded in navy blue colored plastic; 5) Multiple externally mounted bombs; 6) Recessed panel lines; 7) Rivet detail; 8) Spinning propeller; 9) Two crew figures; 10) Painting guide and 11) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in excellent condition.  Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
