 The Douglas World Cruiser represented a purpose-built aircraft manufactured by the Douglas Aircraft Company for an around the world long-distance flight attempt by the United States Army Air Force.  During 1924, United States Army Air Forces Douglas World Cruisers made the first around the world flight.  The epic voyage covered 27.553 miles and lasted 175 days.  The success of this around the world flight helped to establish the Douglas Aircraft Company among the major aircraft companies of the world.  Of the five aircraft originally built, three survived and are currently on display in museums as follows: 1) Chicago - National Air and Space Museum; 2) New Orleans - Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History and Seattle - Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum.  This old, out-of-production Douglas World Cruiser scaled model includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for the "Seattle", "Chicago", "New Orleans", "Boston" & "Boston II aircraft; 2) Clear plastic wind screens; 3) Choice of pontoons or wheels; 4) simulated fabric covering; 5) Spinning propeller; 6) Painting guide and 7) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in excellent condition.  Never opened and factory sealed.
