The EA-6A Wild Weasel was developed for the United States Marine Corps during the 1960s to replace the EF-10 B Skynight. It was built by converting the standard side-by-side A-6 Intruder into an electronic countermeasures aircraft filled with electronic warfare (EW) equipment. The EA-6A Wild Weasel was considered an interim solution to a new generation of ship-based electronic countermeasure aircraft. A total of 27 EA-6As were built with 15 of these representing purpose built aircraft. The EA-6A equipped three United States Marine Corps squadrons including one known as the "Playboys" during the Vietnam War. While most were retired in the 1970s several continued in service into the 1990s. The EA-6A was reventually replaced by the longer, four-place EA-6B Prowler. This EA-6A Wild Weasel (VMAQ-2 "Playboys") scaled model includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for an aircraft flown by the VMAQ-2 squadron known as the "Playboys"; 2) Clear one piece canopy; 3) Detailed landing gear; 4) External drop tank; 5) Radar jamming pods; 6) Recessed panel lines; 7) Shrike missiles; 8) Painting guide and 9) Illustrated assembly instructions. The box is in like-new condition. Never started and factory sealed.
