The book, English Electric (BAC) Lightning In Royal Air Force & Foreign Service (No. 37) is part of Arco-Aircam Aviation Series of publications dedicated to reviewing each famous aircraft with documented black and white vintage photographs, color side view illustrations and color aircraft insignia.  The English Electric (BAC) Lightning is a supersonic, twin jet engine fighter renowned for its capabilities as an interceptor.  It was first introduced to Royal Air Force operational squadrons in late 1959.  The English Lightning's speed and climb-to-altitude capabilities were somewhat offset by its combat range and firepower shortcomings but still filled an important requirement of a Mach 2 capable Royal Air Force (RAF) jet interceptor capable of prevailing over its likely Warsaw Pact adversary jet fighters during the height of the "Cold War".  In addition to the RAF, The English Electric (BAC) Lightning was exported to a number of countries and flown by both the Kuwait and Saudi Arabia Air Forces.  In addition to an informative twelve page narrative history of the English Electric (BAC) Lightning variants, this book includes the following features: 1) Approximately 96 black and white photographs; 2) 24 color insignia illustrations; 3) 24 color side view illustrations and 4) 2 pages of black and white aircraft painting scheme illustrations.  This book is 50 pages and is in very good condition.  The author is Roger Levy with Richard Ward (illustrations).  Edition published in 1972.
