The book, Ernie Pyle: Here Is Your War represents a collection of individually filed news reports made by legendary war correspondent Ernie Pile during the six month Tunisian campaign in North Africa, which lasted from November 17, 1942 through April 18, 1945. Ernie Pyle was known as a roving correspondent who worked for the Scripps-Howard News Service news service during most of World War II. The news filings made by Ernie Pyle were known for their ability to convey the human side of the daily life of the average foot soldier, not grand strategy. Ernie Pyle would go on to file war corrspondence from many other battlefields until he too became a casualty when he was stuck-down in a hail of Japanese machine gun fire on the island of le Shima located of the coast of Okinawa on April 18, 1945.
