The F-101 Voodoo was designed and built to specifically combat the threat of long-range enemy bombers.  The F-101 was ordered in numbers, however, only after the United States Air Defense Command determined that the F-102 Delta Dagger, which was an interim aircraft, would not meet the projected performance requirements and after finding out that the F-106 Delta Dart was falling years behind schedule.  Several variants of the F-101 were built including a dedicated reconnaissance version but only the United States and Canadian Air Forces utilized the F-101 B interceptor model.  The F-101 Voodoo was armed with two externally mounted "Genie" nuclear tipped missiles and two Hughes "Falcon" rocket powered missiles.  This 108 piece F-101 Voodoo scaled model includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for F-101 Voodoos operated by the 15th Fighter Squadron, Davis Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona & the 18th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota; 2) Clear plastic canopy; 3) Detailed cockpit; 4) Detailed landing gear; 5) Externally mounted ordnance; 6) Molded in light gray colored plastic; 7) Seated pilot figure; 8) Recessed panel lines; 9) Painting guide and 10) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in new condition.  Never started and factory sealed.
