The Convair F-102 Delta Dagger was an interceptor aircraft built as a part of the backbone of the United State's Air Force's air defenses in the late 1950s.  The F-102 A entered service in 1956 and its primary mission was to intercept invading Soviet bombers.  The F-102s development was long and troubled which resulted in it ultimately being supplemented by F-101 Voodoos, F-106 Delta Darts and finally F-4 Phantoms.  Approximately 1,000 F-102s were built before production halted and they served the United States Air Force through the mid-1960s followed by stints in various Air National Guard Units until 1976.  The F-102 also was used by the Greek and Turkish Air Forces.   This older, out-of-production kit of the F-102 A Delta Dagger is part of this model makers Jet Fighter Series.  It is molded in light gray and includes the following: 1) Authentic United States Air Force markings for an aircraft operated during the Cold War and 2) Complete illustrated assembly instructions.  Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
