The F7F Tigercat was a sleek, twin engine, single seat carrier-based fighter that was capable of speeds in excess of 435 m.p.h.. The Tigercat was introduced just after the conlcusion of World War II. The United States Navy and Marine Corps used it until the introduction of jet fighters in the late 1940s. It was armed with four 20 mm cannon and four .50 caliber machine guns. This older F7F-2 / 2N Tigercat 120 piece model includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for a F7F-2 / 2N operated by VF(N)-52 on board the Antietam aircraft carrier and a F7F-2 2N test aircraft flown from the Naval Air Test Center; 2) Clear plastic canopy; 3) Detailed cockpit; 4) Detailed landing gear; 5) Detailed Pratt & Whitney R2800-22W engines; 6) Recessed panel lines; 7) Paint guide and 8) Illustrated assembly instructions. The box is in like-new condition. Never started and factory sealed.
