The F9F Panther was the most popular naval aircraft flown from aircraft carriers during the Korean War in the early 1950s. The F9F Panther was manufactured by the Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation and was powered by a Pratt and Whitney J-48 engine. The Panther F9F A-5 variant had a top speed of 579 mph and had a rate of climb of 6,280 feet per minute.
