The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress was a four-engine, strategic heavy bomber flown by the United States Army Air Corps in all combat theaters during World War II. While introduced in the late 1930s and later eclipsed by the Boeing B-29 Super Fortress, it nevertheless was the iconic symbol of American strategic airpower during World War II. The Consolidated PBY Catalina flying boat was developed in the 1930s and manufactured by the Consolidated Aircraft Company primarily for use by the United States Army Air Corps and Navy. The PBY Catalina was used for anti-submarine warfare, cargo transport, convoy escort, patrol bombing and search & rescue missions. This Famous Airplanes Of The World kit includes parts to assemble four B-17 Flying Fortress Bombers and two PBY Catalina Flying Boats. These multi-piece aircraft models come complete with authentic decals and are molded in medium gray colored plastic. The size of these models allows them to be used in dioramas featuring 1/700-scale ship kits. The box is in excellent condition. Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
