The first Battle of Bull Run which was the opening engagement of the American Civil War pitted two-inexperienced, ill-trained and poorly led armies against each other. This battle culminated in a classic defensive fight by the legendary Thomas 'Stonewall' Jackson which at its conclusion gave the Confederacy its first victory.
