The design lineage of the Ta 152 H can be traced back to the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 which first flew in 1939.  The aircraft designer responsible for both German fighter aircraft was none other than Kurt Tank.  In 1943, he was tasked with coming up with a fighter design that could perform well at altitudes above 30,000 feet and at comparable speeds with the U.S. Army Air Corps' P 51 Mustang which was the dominant Allied fighter escorting American bombers beginning in the second half of 1944.  Owing to the disruption in the German's ability to manufacture the Ta 152 H, only a handful were able to enter service at the beginning of 1945.  The ones that did enter service were powered by the powerful Jumo 213 E engine and as a result could reach altitudes of 35,000 feet and fly at speeds in excess of 430 mph.  The Ta 152 gave a good account of itself in the limited number of times it battled with Allied fighter aircraft.  Included in the bock Focke-Wulf Ta 152 are a large number of black and white period photographs - some previously unpublished along with a number of drawings that help illustrate the development and operational history of this advanced fighter design.  The book is 144 pages and is in like new condition.  The author is Dietmar Harman.  Edition published in 1998.
