The documentary, George Marshall and the American Century, tells the remarkable story of an almost forgotten hero, George Marshall. He was a five star general and statesman, a powerful yet modest patriot and an introspective man whose influential role in matters of war and peace helped to determine the course of the twentieth century. General Marshall built the mightiest army in history and selected its leaders. Generals Eisenhower, MacArthur and Patton all obeyed his commands. Once victory was achieved at the end of World War II, he bound up the world's wounds with a plan for European recovery that bore his name. "George Marshall and the American Century" features rare historical footage and recordings of Marshall and President's Roosevelt and Truman. This video also includes exclusive interviews with General Matthew B. Ridgeway, journalist Eric Sevareid and former Secretary of Defense Clark Clifford among others. This video highlights the many accomplishments of a tenacious diplomat and strategist who won battles in both the European combat theater and on Capitol Hill. Narrated by E.G. Marshall. Full screen in black and white. Released in 1993. Runtime 88 minutes.
