This postcard depicts a steam powered locomotive pulling at least four passenger cars as it is traveling in Southern California through an orange grove on either side of the railroad tracks all set against a blue sky.  The legend on the back of this postcard reads: "To the traveler from the East, as he obtains his first glimpse of orange groves of Southern California, is given a view that has few equals.  Thousands of acres in every direction spring into view, covered with the glossy, dark green of the orange trees and pomelos (grape-fruit), or the lighter green of the lemons".  This postcard is identified by the number 15056 and contains writing on the back although it was never mailed and thus has know postmark.  It is free of noticeable stains or marks and is in overall very good condition with slight wear evident on the four corners.
