The book, Great Battles Of World War II, recreates the greatest battles of World War II from the European to the Pacific combat theaters. In this interesting book, three-dimensional computer graphics help to recreate the greatest battles of World War II from Dunkirk and the battle Of Britain to the lethal assault on Okinawa. These battles are arguably unequalled throughout history in terms of their intensity, scope and variety. In this book, traditional two-dimensional maps have been transformed with the assistance of modern computer technology into three dimensional battlefield reconstructions. Troop movements, weapon deployments and weather conditions are related to help round out the reader's understanding of each highlighted battle. Adding a further element of understanding, many of these battle landscapes are "rotated" to present opposing vantage points be it a pilot's perspective in a dogfight over a British air base or a German tank commander's sights as he leads an advance on Moscow. Rounding out this book are select profiles of commanders with reviews of their relative strengths and ultimate places in history. Included in this book are the following: 1) Hundred's of color and black & white photographs; 2) Numerous color illustrations and 3) Many charts and maps that help to detail tactics, strategies, formations and weapons. This book is 192 pages. The author is John Macdonald with a forward by General Sir John Hackett. Edition published in 2008.
