 The Grumman Duck amphibian was designed from the beginning as a utility bi-plane primarily for use by the United States Navy.  Grumman Ducks were used for air sea rescue, light trransport, patrol, photography and target towing duties.  Initial JF-1 Grumman Ducks began entering service in 1934 and by the time produciton ended in 1945 approximately 653 units of all variants including the J2F-6 had been produced.  The Grumman Duck was crewed by one pilot and an observer in the cockpit and passengers could be carried in the lower compartment.  The J2F-6 which is the subject of this model was powered by a Wright Cyclone radial engine which gave it a top speed of 190 m.p.h.  The J2F-6 carried one flexible rearward firing .30 caliber machine gun, as well as, up to 650 pounds of bombs.  This older, out-of-production Grumman Duck J2F-6 is molded in medium gray plastic and includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for a J2F-6 flown by the United States Navy during World War II and a J2F-6 flown on air-sea rescue missions in 1948; 2) Clear plastic canopy and fuselage glass areas; 3) Clear plastic display stand; 4) Detailed radial engine; 5) Pilot and observer figures; 6) Rivet detail; 7) Two bombs; 8) Painting guide and 9) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in excellent condition.  Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
