The Grumman Gosling also known to American's as the "Widgeon" was initially produced 1940 as a private aircraft. A considerable number of Goslings had been built before the aircraft was pressed into military service with the United States Coast Guard. By 1941, the Gosling had been "adobted" by the Royal Canadian Air Force where it was used as a communications and training aircraft. In addition, a small number of Goslings went into service as rescue and communications aircraft with the Royal Air Force and Navy. The Gosling's ability to operate from either land or water ensured that after the war, a number of aircraft would be used in the civilian market in the charter role. The Gosling, as originally introduced, was powered by two 200 h.p. Ranger engines giving it a maximum speed of 165 m.p.h.. and a range of 775 miles. Armament was not usually carried but some versions used by the United States Coast Guard during World War II carried two depth charges. This older, out-of-production detailed model of the Gosling is molded in white plastic. Included in this kit are the following: 1) Authentic markings for an aircraft operated by the Royal Air Force / Navy and Royal Canadian Air Force; 2) Clear display stand and 3) Illustrated assembly instructions. The model package is in very good condition. Never started and factory sealed.
