The Grumman Goose was a twin engine utility flying boat designed as an eight seat commuter aircraft for a Long Island New York business man in the 1930s. The "Goose" has the distinction of being the first Grumman single wing aircraft to fly, its first twin engine aircraft and its first to enter commercial service. During World War II, variants of the Grumman Goose became an important light utility transport for various branches of the United States military, as well as, with various other Allied air forces. The Grumman goose continued to be used as a commercial and private flying boat well after the end of World War II. When production ceased, just under 350 Grumman flying boats had been produced. The Gumman Goose had the following operational characteristics: 1) Top speed of 150 mph; 2) Range of 640 miles and 3) Service ceiling of 21,000. The Grumman JRF Goose, which is the subject of this model was built in a number of different variants for the United States Army Air Force, Coast Guard and Navy during World War II. This Grumman JRF Goose Utility Flying Boat scaled model includes authentic markings for the following four aircraft: 1) US Coast Guard; 2) US Army Air corps, Wheeler Field, 1941; 3) Swedish Air Force and 4) Aviacion de Marina de Guerra de Cuba, 1945. Other features of this model include the following: 1) Clear plastic cockpit and fuselage glass areas; 2) Detailed aft cabin; 3) Detailed cockpit; 4) Detail engines including exhausts; 5) Detailed wheels; 6) Seperately molded bombs; 7) Recessed panel lines and 8) Illustrated assembly instructions. The box is in new condition. Never started and factory sealed.
