This Grumman Panther F9F model is a very early, rare kit from Hawk and was among the first all plastic kits mass produced in the U.S. for modellers. Prior to the advent of kits like this, models were typically all wood or wood with some injection molded plastic parts. This model is one of the first two all plastic kits produced by Hawk and came packaged in a unique "flip-top" box. As has been pointed out, this kit is more famous due to the fact that Aurora purchased the F9F along with the F-90 and copied the molds to produce their first two plastic kits. This kit is molded in medium blue and comes complete with the following: 1) Clear stand; 2) Clear stand arm; 3) nose probe; 4) Clear canopy and 5) Pilot figure. Note: the box containg this model has been covered in clear plastic to protect it from wear. Also, the asking price reflects the fact that the original owner of this model began painting the white portion of the wing and fuselage insignia. The box is in very good condition overall with some wear eviddent on the corners of the box. Never assembled. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions.
