World War II wartime account of the U.S. Marine invasion of the Japanese occupied Solomon Islands.  The proximity of shooting this picture so close to the actual events themselves give the film added urgency and as such was certainly intended to boost home-front morale during the tenuous, early stages of the battle with the forces of the Empire Of Japan.  The raw action, reflective dialogue and the "better-than-average" cast of tough guys makes this film one of the best movies coming out of World War II. Starring Preston Foster, Lloyed Nolan and Anthony Quinn among others.  Fullscreen in black and white.  Released in 1943.  Runtime 93 minutes.
