The H.M.S. “Shannon” was a typical frigate of Lord Nelson’s time, a two-deck, man-of-war mounting 46 guns.  She won fame during the American War of Independence when she captured the United States frigate “Cheapeake” off Boston in 1813.  Her captain, Philip Bowes Vere Broke, gained the name of “Brave Broke” for this action.  A sister ship of “Shannon”, H.M.S. “Euryalus”, commanded by Captain Sir Algernon Blackwood, was the look-out frigate of Lord Nelson’s fleet in 1805 at the Battle of Trafalgar.  This older H.M.S. Shannon (Series 1) kit, was part of Airfix’s small “Historical Ships” line of small scaled models, and includes the following features: 1) Authentic flag; 2) Detailed sails; 3) Display stand; 4) Molded in white colored plastic; 5) Separately molded life boats; 6) Color painting guide and 7) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The package is in Very Good condition.  Never Started and factory sealed.
