The Hawker Hurricane was undoubtedly one of the most famous British fighters of World War II. It fought the German's in the Battle of France in the Spring of 1940 and later faced down the mighty Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain. During this latter battle, no fewer than 36 Royal Air Force Squadrons operated the type which at the time represented 60 percent of Fighter Command's total frontline fighter strength. It was designed by Sydney Camm in 1934 and made its first flight in 1935. In addition to the Mk. I used during the Battle of Britain, other variants included the Mk. II B "Hurribomber", the Mk. II C with 20 mm wing cannons and the Mk. IV armed with underwing rockets. Approximately 14,533 of all marks were built before production ceased late in World War II. The Hurricane Mk. II B was powered by a 1,280 h.p. Rolls-Royce Merlin XX engine giving it a top speed of 339 m.p.h. at 22,000 feet and an effective combat range of 470 miles. This older, out-of-production Hawker Hurricane Mk. I, Mk. II B or Mk. IV model can be built as either of the following two aircraft: 1) Mk. I "Battle of Britain" aircraft coded RF-C of No. 303 Squadron and 2) Mk. II B Bomber coded AE-K of 402 Squadron. This kit includes the following features: 1) Clear canopy; 2) Optional bombs, guns, rockets and drop tanks and 3) Illustrated assembly instructions. Note: This kit is missing the spinner necessary to build an authentic Mk. I model but is otherwise 100% complete. The box is in very good condition but does include original packaging tape on both sides of the box. Never started and 100% complete (except the Mk. I spinner) with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
