The Heinkel He 111 was a twin-engine medium bomber used by the German Luftwaffe with much success early in World War II.  By 1942, it was essentially obsolete and not flown in daylight missions unless the Luftwaffe enjoyed local air superiority.  During 1942 the German Luftwaffe transferred most remaining squadrons flying the He -111 to the Eastern front where it continued to soldier on until the end of the war.  The He-111 H-8 variant of the Heinkel bomber was rigged with a purpose built tethered balloon cable cutter and was used during missions over England in 1941.  It was intended that He-111's equipped with this device would fly ahead of the main bomber stream clearing a safe path from obstructions such as tethered barrage balloons.  This Heinkel He 111 H-8 scaled model includes the following features: 1) Authentic markings for a single German aircraft as flown in 1941; 2) Clear plastic cockpit and fuselage glass areas; 3) Detailed bomb bay; 4) Detailed cockpit; 5) Engraved panel lines; 6) Photo-etched maintenance ladder; 7) Tethered balloon cable cutter with support trusses; 8) Painting guide and 9) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in new condition.  Never started and factory sealed.
