The 1903 Cadillac was a two seat early automobile that was powered by a reliable 10 horsepower, single-cylinder engine developed by Henry LeLand and built by Leland and Faulconer Manufacturing Company of Detroit.  This firm, which included Henry Ford for a short period was reformed as the "Cadillac" after the French founder of Detroit Michigan, Antoine Laumet.  Henry Leland, the founder of the "Cadillac" Corporation, was both vice-president and general manager of this new organization.  The first three 1903 Cadillac cars were actually built in the last quarter of 1902 and were displayed at the New York Auto Show in January 1903.  All three of these vehicles quickly sold and by mid-week orders had been taken for another 2,286 vehicles.  Throughout the remainder of 1903, almost 2,500 vehicles had been manufactured.  The early Cadillac cars came configured as either a "Cadillac Runabout" or "Cadillac Tonneau" and were sometimes referred to as a Model A.  The 1904 Cadillac cars were subsequently designated as Model Bs.  In any event, the Cadillac dynasty of quality vehicles began with the 1903 Model As and from then on they were known as reliable, high-end quality vehicles.  This older, out-of-production Highway Pioneers: 1903 Cadillac scaled model from the early 1960s includes the following features: 1) Beautiful box art; 2) Driver figure; 3) Molded in medium blue colored plastic; 4) Separately molded head lights; 5) Spoke wheels and 6) Illustrated assembly instructions.  The box is in excellent condition.  Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
