The Howard "Ike" was a low-wing, wire-braced monoplane that was designed and built by legendary air racer Benny Howard and a partner named Gordon Israel.  The Howard "Ike" was designated DGA-4, was sponsored by Chevrolet, and flew under the name of Miss Chevrolet.  It was equipped with a specially designed carburetor allowing the aircraft to fly inverted for extended periods of time without the engine quiting which is a requirement for aerobatic or military flight.  The Howard "Ike" had a wingspan of 20 feet, 1 inch, a fuselage length of 17 feet and a cockpit that was hinged on the side.  The cockpit was so small, in fact, that it had to be fully closed once the pilot was inside.  The Howard "Ike" initially had a unique tandem landing gear that was subsequently replaced with a more conventional design which improved the aircraft's ground handling characteristics.  The Howard "Ike" was first introduced to the Thompson Trophy Race in 1933 and flew in a number of subsequent air races.  This Howard "Ike" model is molded in white plastic and includes the following features: 1) Authentic race-aircraft markings; 2) clear plastic windscreen; 3) Detailed landing gear; 4) Racing pylon display base and 5) Illustrated assembly instructions.  Never started and 100% complete with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
