The Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) Heavy Cruiser Tone was launched on November 21, 1937, commissioned on November 20, 1938 and sunk at Kure by American aircraft at Kure, Hiroshima on July 24, 1945.  The IJN Tone was the lead ship built in a two-vessel class that also included the IJN Chikuma.  The IJN Tone was heavily armed and carried 8 eight-inch cannons, 8 five-inch cannons, numerous anti-aircraft guns of varying calibers and 12 twenty-four inch torpedo tubes.  The IJN Tone also carried multiple Aichi E13A1 "Jake" long-range patrol floatplanes along with multiple Nakajima E8B "Dave" short-range, two seat patrol floatplanes.  The IJN Tone carried a crew of just under-900 men and could travel at speeds of up to 34.7 knots.  This older IJN Heavy Cruiser Tone scale model includes the following features: 1) 8 eight inch cannons that rotate; 2) 8 five inch cannons; 3) Molded in dark gray and red colored plastic; 4) Separately molded anti-aircraft guns; 5) Separately molded lifeboats; 6) Separately molded motor launches; 7) Steel model weight; 8) Three Aichi E13A1 "Jake" floatplanes; 9) Two Nakajima E8N "Dave" floatplanes; 10) Two Aircraft launch rails and 11) illustrated assembly instructions.  Note: the price of this kit reflects the fact that it is missing the factory-supplied decals including a Japanese flag &  the IJN Tone name for the model nameplate.  The box is in excellent condition.  Never started and 100% complete except as noted with all parts, decals and instructions inventoried.
